This Opportunity WSP is seeking a Water Resources Environmental Scientist specializing in stormwater compliance to join our team in Oakland, CA. Job Description Working as part of our stormwater team, the position involves assisting clients with stormwater compliance tasks such as assessing best management practices (BMPs), stormwater monitoring, reviewing water quality data, completing site evaluations, and preparing compliance documentation. The candidate must demonstrate independent judgment, excellent communication, and critical thinking skills. Familiarity with environmental and stormwater industry standards and knowledge of stormwater regulations are essential. This role offers growth and development opportunities. Our Oakland team works with multiple clients on NPDES-related projects, providing diverse project experiences. Your Impact Conduct compliance evaluations at commercial and industrial sites and review inspection reports. Develop data collection methods for stormwater and surface water projects. Evaluate pollutant control measures' effectiveness. Prepare compliance reports, including ERA, monitoring, and inspection reports. Assist with project scheduling, cost estimates, and coordinate with cross-functional teams. Ensure regulatory compliance related to data integrity, documentation, and reporting. Create data visualizations, reports, and conduct training for NPDES projects. Develop technical reports and presentations on research and findings. Oversee sampling equipment procurement and laboratory orders. Implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs). Interact professionally with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients. Conduct research and assist in proposal development. Exercise responsible decision-making and adhere to WSP’s policies. Perform additional duties as needed. Who You Are Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Natural Resources Management, or related field. 3-5 years of experience in environmental surveys, fieldwork, impact assessments, or construction monitoring. Experience with NPDES compliance projects under various permits. Certifications such as QISP, QSD, QSP, CPESC, CPSWQ, CESSWI, CISEC, or PE. Knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes. Proficiency with weather models and data analysis. Experience in technical report writing, environmental permitting, and fieldwork. Project management skills for small to mid-sized projects. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Self-leadership with attention to detail and multitasking ability. Ability to work independently and guide junior team members. Proficiency with business and communication software. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to policies. Flexibility to work beyond standard hours and travel as needed. Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree preferred. OSHA HAZWOPER certification preferred, training available if needed. First Aid and CPR training desired.
