Position: Vmware System Engineer
Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Systems Engineer to join our team. This role focuses on automating solutions, managing our on-premises and cloud infrastructure, and providing top-tier support. A strong emphasis is placed on deep expertise in VMware vSphere, ESXi virtualization, and performance optimization. Experience with various storage technologies is also highly desired.
Responsibilities include deploying, administering, and maintaining on-premise servers (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, File Print), storage solutions such as Nimble, TrueNAS, SAN, and vSAN, managing applications and virtualization environments (VMware vSphere, ESXi, HA, DR), batch scheduling, security, patching, alerts, user administration, and backups.
Expert-level configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting of VMware vSphere environments as well as managing and optimizing various storage solutions. Deep expertise in Windows Server domain administration. Deploy, maintain, and monitor application stacks in AWS and Microsoft Azure environments. Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization.
Develop and implement automation for system administration tasks using Python and PowerShell. Utilize REST APIs for application integration. Provide Tier III support to end users and mentor deskside support. Test and implement software updates. Research, recommend, and implement automated solutions for system administration. Develop and maintain documentation. Manage projects and coordinate with 3rd party service providers.
Requirements: 3-5 years Windows Server domain administration skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Experience configuring and managing various storage solutions, including Fibre Channel, SAN, and vSAN (TrueNAS, Nimble).
Experience with Okta or similar identity management tools.
AWS and Azure deployment and application stack management experience.
Knowledge of information security best practices.
Experience with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds and Datadog.
Experience with Terraform, Docker, and Ansible.
3-5 years of systems engineering experience in a complex environment (on-premise and cloud).
Advanced scripting skills in Python and PowerShell.
3-5 years VMware vSphere and ESXi expertise including design, configuration, monitoring, performance tuning, optimization, HA, and DR.
