As Scouts Strategic Procurement Manager, you will play a key role in the procurement of utility-scale wind power, one of the fastest-growing technologies in the power sector. Your knowledge of the commercial, technical, legal, and financial aspects of renewables will enable our team to make informed decisions. You will develop and execute negotiating strategies, lead deals, and serve as Scouts representative to vendors and partners.

This position offers the opportunity to directly impact Scouts long-term energy transition efforts. You will work across various technologies and project stages, collaborating with multiple teams within Scout to create solutions to complex challenges through deal leadership and negotiation.

You will join Scouts Strategic Procurement team, responsible for optimizing energy costs while ensuring safety, quality, and performance. Reporting to the Associate Director of Strategic Procurement, a seasoned professional with 20 years of experience, you will be part of a team that values teamwork, achievement, and continuous learning.

This role is newly created to support Scouts expanding portfolio of development and construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with Engineering, Construction, Development, Legal, and other teams to focus on appropriate technologies, vendors, and designs.
  2. Build, maintain, and prioritize relationships with key vendors and contractors, including regular meetings to stay informed on supply segments and vendor status.
  3. Manage all sourcing cycle activities for wind turbine systems and other categories as a category manager.
  4. Develop and maintain a Wind turbine generator market intelligence dashboard covering upstream, midstream, and downstream supply chains.
  5. Develop negotiation strategies for supply and services and drive their execution.
  6. Provide recommendations to management regarding price, performance, risk, quality, and ESG criteria.
  7. Support and propose continuous improvement initiatives in procurement processes.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

You will be expected to develop systems and tools to improve efficiency, leveraging your past experience and industry knowledge.

Requirements

You are a deal-oriented, analytical professional passionate about renewable energys positive impact. You understand contractual risk management and creatively handle competing priorities.

Subject Matter Expertise

  • Bachelors Degree in technical, business, or finance fields; supply chain certification is a plus.
  • 5+ years of procurement experience, preferably in utility-scale renewable energy.
  • Category management experience involving technical and commercial complexities.
  • Strong technical aptitude to understand issues and propose solutions.
  • Experience in executing complex contract negotiations, including legal, technical, and commercial analysis.
  • Ability to clearly communicate issues, analysis, and recommendations in writing and verbally.
  • Knowledge of utility-scale solar, battery storage, U.S. power markets, and economic drivers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Timeline and Location

Benefits

Salary: $110,000-$130,000 plus attractive bonus potential. Comprehensive benefits include medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k) matching, STD, LTD, Employee Assistance Program, and optional supplemental coverage.
