Job Description

Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with the Technical Director (TD) to define project objectives, scope, deliverables, and timelines.
  2. Work with the TD to define the system architecture to include selecting components.
  3. Develop detailed project plans, including work breakdown structures, resource allocation, and risk assessments.
  4. Utilize mass production manufacturing considerations during the design and analysis phases.
  5. Coordinate and oversee the execution of engineering projects, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  6. Monitor project progress, identify bottlenecks or obstacles, and take proactive measures to address them.
  7. Utilize your deep understanding of engineering principles, specifically related to drone technology, to provide technical guidance and support.
  8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including aeromechanical engineers, electrical engineers, hardware engineers, systems engineers, and technicians, to ensure successful project outcomes.
  9. Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and problem-solving sessions to ensure project objectives are met and engineering best practices are followed.
  10. Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as suppliers or partners, to coordinate activities, ensure timely delivery of components, and resolve any technical issues that may arise.
  11. Maintain accurate project documentation, including project plans, technical specifications, progress reports, and risk assessments.
  12. Prepare regular status updates and project reports for the Technical Director and other relevant stakeholders.
  13. Conduct post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement, and implement appropriate changes for future projects.
  14. Stay updated with the latest advancements in drone technology and engineering practices.
  15. Collaborate with the Technical Director and engineering teams to identify opportunities for innovation, process improvements, and new product features.
  16. Contribute to developing and enhancing engineering methodologies, standards, and best practices to drive efficiency and quality.
  17. Review client, customer, and user feedback.
  18. Maintain compliance with federal, state, local, and organizational laws, regulations, guidelines, and policies.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering.
  2. Proven experience (3+ years) as a Project Engineer or in a similar role, managing complex engineering projects from concept to completion.
  3. Solid understanding of drone technology, including components, flight dynamics, and autonomy.
  4. Demonstrated experience working on the systems architecture of commercial drones or UAVs.
  5. In-depth knowledge of drone components, subsystems, and their integration to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
  6. Familiarity with industry standards and regulations governing drone systems.
  7. Experience overseeing the development and delivery of consumer electronics products from conception to market launch.
  8. Strong understanding of the challenges associated with mass production, quality control, and supply chain management in consumer electronics.
  9. Deep understanding of the interplay between mechanical and electrical components in complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
  10. Proficiency in utilizing modeling and simulation tools to optimize system performance and identify potential issues or areas for improvement.
  11. Strong project management skills, with the ability to create project plans, manage resources, and ensure timely delivery.
  12. Proficient in using project management tools and software.
  13. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  14. Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to analyze complex technical challenges.
  15. Attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
  16. Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  17. Passion for drones, robotics, and emerging technologies.
  18. Team-player, action & results-focused.
  19. Able to work under tight deadlines.
  20. Experience in aerospace or defense industry is preferred.
  21. May require some domestic travel.
  22. Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.
  23. Due to the sensitive nature of the work, US citizenship is required.
