Job Overview:

They are seeking a passionate and dedicated Principal Environmental Specialist to join our Natural Resources group in Parsippany, New Jersey. This role offers an excellent growth opportunity for candidates to collaborate with a diverse team of professionals on various public and private sector projects. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in the following areas:

Responsibilities:

  • Manage project and task budgets and deadlines.
  • Oversee complex environmental projects.
  • Prepare environmental permits in New Jersey and New York.
  • Develop proposals and project budgets; assist with marketing and business development.
  • Lead wetland field investigations, delineations, and functional value assessments.
  • Conduct threatened and endangered floral and faunal habitat assessments and targeted species surveys.
  • Prepare technical studies and reports.
  • Submit wetland and ecological permit applications in compliance with federal and state regulations, with a focus on New York and New Jersey.
  • Compile scope and fee for projects or tasks.
  • Assign tasks, communicate expectations, and track task status.
  • Complete project tasks within deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Ensure quality assurance and quality control processes.
  • Monitor and manage project finances monthly.
  • Mentor junior environmental staff.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, ecology, botany, wildlife management, natural resources, or a related field.
  • Over 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Certified Wildlife Biologist or Professional Wetland Scientist preferred, but not required.
  • Strong identification skills for northeastern flora and fauna.
  • Ability to lead wetland delineations.
  • Proficiency in leading threatened and endangered species habitat assessments and targeted surveys.
  • Experience with US Army Corps of Engineers, New Jersey, and New York permitting.
  • Preferable experience with NYDOT and NJDOT projects.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Experience in managing junior staff, tasks, and projects.
