Prep Cooks at the Whitewater Center are responsible for cooking and preparing a variety of food products according to the Daily Prep List. Prep Cooks make sure the catering and restaurant teams have all the prepared foods they need to execute their shifts. Prep Cook are on-site, and can either be hired as full-time hourly, benefits eligible employees or part-time hourly employees reporting directly to the Executive Chef.

Responsibilities

  • Safely prepare a variety of food products using various kitchen equipment including, but not limited to, broilers, ovens, grills, fryers, and sharp knives.
  • Understand and consistently comply with portion sizes and recipe specifications as described on recipe cards.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation including tables, shelves, walls, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Refer to the Daily Prep List and opening and closing checklists for assigned duties and comply with all Whitewater rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Be able to fill in as needed to ensure smooth and efficient operation within the kitchen.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • No prior restaurant experience is needed.
  • Excellent communication skills are a must.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and during Whitewater events as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years’ experience in a fast paced, casual dining environment

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to work outdoors for sustained periods of time in all weather and environmental conditions.
  • Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to bend, stand, lean, and kneel on a regular basis and for sustained periods of time.
  • Must be able to safely self-transport over uneven terrain or in a confined space.
  • Must be able to work in shared spaces with other employees and customers.
  • All positions as Whitewater require employees to report and work onsite at Whitewater locations.

The Food and Beverage Department delivers exceptional, chef-driven culinary service to Whitewater guests. Whitewater is home to diverse and ever-evolving food and beverage outlets, including full-service and fast-casual dining options. In addition, the Food and Beverage Department oversees catering for private events and Adventure Dining.
