Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our urology team. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with urologists to provide comprehensive care to patients with urological conditions. This role includes responsibilities in outpatient clinics, inpatient rounding, pre- and post-operative care, and assisting in procedures as appropriate.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform initial and follow-up evaluations for patients with urological conditions.
• Conduct detailed histories, physical examinations, and clinical assessments.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests including urinalysis, imaging studies, and lab work.
• Assist in minor office procedures such as catheter placements, cystoscopies, and bladder scans.
• First-assist in surgical procedures as permitted (PA-specific).
• Provide patient education regarding disease processes, treatment plans, surgical preparation, and post-operative care.
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care.
• Accurately and promptly document visits and procedures in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Participate in inpatient rounds and provide hospital consult coverage when applicable.
• Prescribe medications and treatments within scope of practice and state regulations.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and contribute to patient satisfaction efforts.

Education:

• PA: Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• NP: Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing with certification in Adult, Family, or Acute Care.

Licensure/Certification:

• Current state licensure as a PA or NP.
• National certification (NCCPA for PA; AANP/ANCC for NP).
• DEA registration and prescriptive authority.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.

Experience:

• Minimum 1–2 years of clinical experience in urology or a surgical specialty preferred.
• New graduates with strong clinical rotations in urology or surgical areas will be considered.
