Join Our Team as a Certified Nurse Midwife!

Are you passionate about providing comprehensive women's healthcare? At Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital , we are looking for a dedicated Certified Nurse Midwife to join our team! In this vital role, you will be at the forefront of women's health, offering care throughout pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and beyond.

Position Overview

As a Certified Nurse Midwife, you will work closely with OB/GYN physicians to ensure seamless patient care. Your expertise will guide you in performing diagnostics, delivering infants, and educating patients. This role demands independent judgment and a commitment to maintaining high standards of care.

Your Responsibilities

• Demonstrate your obstetrical and gynecological knowledge while adhering to clinical guidelines and policies.
• Provide inpatient care, including timely ordering and evaluation of diagnostic tests, and managing minor complications.
• Conduct comprehensive history and physical exams, developing care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary obstetrical team.
• Manage labor and delivery for healthy women, including OB triage and postpartum care.
• Prescribe treatments and medications for contraceptive needs and medical issues.
• Identify deviations from normal and consult or refer as necessary.
• Perform limited obstetric ultrasounds as per established guidelines.
• Offer individualized client teaching and counseling based on the nurse-midwifery philosophy.
• Engage in continuous peer review and audits to uphold regulatory standards.
• Take on additional duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

Education

• Master's degree or higher in a related field.
• Graduate of an accredited nurse-midwifery program preferred.

Qualifications & Experience

• Three (3) years of experience preferred, with internships including a minimum of 40 births in an acute care setting within the last 2 years.

Special Skills & Knowledge

• Current licensure in California (RN and CNM).
• Certification by the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) or the ACNM Certification Council.
• Current furnishing number and DEA license.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Neonatal Resuscitation certification preferred.
• Certification in Limited OB ultrasound preferred.
