POSITION TITLE: Assistant Band Director- Northgate High School- 190 day Contract



JOB DESCRIPTION:

Provide instrumental instruction for students to ensure each student's progress by as much individualization as possible. Conduct rehearsals for band ensembles before and after school to prepare for high school activities and other community/civic functions. Select music for performance which will further the students' musical techniques, understanding and appreciation. Plan, accompany and is responsible for the band on trips to marching and concert performances. Counsel students concerning career choices in music. Meet other responsibilities, including presentation of performances, as may be directed by the principal. Comply with any reasonable oral or written directive of the principal or other appropriate administrator.



REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION OR TRAINING:
Bachelor's degree in Music and valid Georgia Teaching certification in appropriate field. Specialized training in band directing a plus.



REQUIRED SKILLS:
Ability to organize, coordinate, plan and direct the implementation of a comprehensive instructional music program. Proficiency required in oral and written communication, interpersonal relations, and competency in counseling and evaluating student needs.



REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Successful teacher training and/or teaching experiences in the field/level to which assigned.
